Hi, I’m Amanda, a student counsellor at Calm Journey.  I’m in my final year of therapeutic counselling studying at college in Brighton.  The course covers a number of theoretical models and my core theory and way of working is known as person-centred counselling.

Person-centred therapy means providing a safe space for you to talk about anything you wish to bring to any sessions and explore your feelings without being judged and for me to be empathic and to offer unconditional positive regard.  I work in the here and now. There is no agenda, so as the client you will lead the sessions as we focus on whatever issues you want to talk about, which can vary from session to session.

By coming to therapy, it’s your journey and I am there to walk that journey with you, to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your issues and explore any changes you wish to make.

I’ve also gained additional training in bereavement and loss, and work with children and adults.
