Sarah
Hi, I’m Sarah, and I work with adults and children here at Calm Journey.
If you’re curious about counselling, I offer a gentle meeting place for you to be heard and where you can bring your story exactly as it is, without needing to tidy it up or make sense of it first. My intention is to meet you with compassion, care, and honesty, and to co create a relationship that supports a deeper attunement to yourself and a sense of empowerment aswell as safely holding vulnerabilities or pain that may have been held quietly for a long time.
My work is rooted in a person centred approach, so I won’t give advice or direct towards solutions, but instead support what feels safe to bring. I hold autonomy at the heart of my sessions, encouraging you to meet yourself with gentleness, and promote self-love and care. I understand how challenging that can sometimes be.
Whatever it is you want to explore, I offer a relationship that is guided by you, where your voice, your pace, and your truth shape the work we do together.
I am trauma-informed, and much of my professional identity sits with mental health distress, having worked in settings for those in crisis, which formed my journey into becoming a counsellor. My experience also sits within loss and identity. Grief is not only about losing someone. It can also be about losing a version of self. Together, we can explore parts that emerge after an absence when life changes in ways you didn’t choose.
In my work with children, I offer a gentle, steady presence where they can explore how they see themselves and the world around them creatively. I follow their pace, their curiosity, and their way of expressing feelings in the moment, helping them build emotional understanding in a way that feels safe and natural whilst having fun along the way.
My primary focuses include:
Humanistic / Person Centred
My primary approach is Person-Centred counselling, a humanistic form of therapy that focuses on your unique experience and how you understand yourself.
As a person-centred therapist in East Sussex, I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. Rather than analysing or diagnosing, I work alongside you to help you make sense of what’s going on in a way that feels right for you.
