Marion

Hi I’m Marion, a Person Centred therapist at Calm Journey.
I have experience in supporting families and patients who have life limiting illness or terminal illness. I also have a certificate in Child and Adolescent bereavement accredited by Middlesex University.
I volunteered in a Community Counselling service in SE London for 4 years where I offered clients support on a variety of difficulties they were facing Bereavement and loss, Eating disorders, Anxiety and Depression, Hoarding

Having a background in the arts, I have experienced first hand the value of using arts in therapy and offer the opportunity for clients to use arts in sessions when it may become difficult to articulate what you are feeling with words.
I also like to use mindfulness in my practice and relaxation techniques.

As a person Centred therapist I endeavour to promote the understanding and self awareness of my clients to foster a feeling of empowerment and control at a time when everything may feel out of control.
I believe we are the experts in ourselves, that each person that comes to the counselling room has their own strengths and insights but over time for one reason or another has become unable to recognise or trust these, losing sight of their own inner wisdom. This can cause us confusion and dis-ease. Embarking on your therapeutic journey is not easy, it can be painful and emotionally exhausting and feel scary. Having a regular time where you can sit and reflect in the presence of someone who is curious, interested and non judgemental can enable you to understand what you need to do to live a fulfilled and happy life and realise your own true potential to become the best person you can. Therapy is a gift to yourself.
Although you may initially present with a specific ‘problem’ I remain open to explore anything that arises as we work together, following your lead on what is important.

My primary focuses include:
Humanistic / Person Centred

Person Centred
Person-centred therapy, also known as person-centred or client-centred counselling, is a humanistic approach that deals with the ways in which individuals perceive themselves consciously, rather than how a counsellor can interpret their unconscious thoughts or ideas.
