Coaching

There are many definitions of what coaching is, but then there are lots of different types of coaching - job coaching, business coaching, leadership coaching and life coaching, to name a few.
In general, though, they share a common theme. It's essentially about the coach and the client talking together in a collaborative, solution-focused way to help the client achieve goals. Like the counselling environment, it’s a comfortable, reflective and safe space to speak openly and freely.
We provide calm challenge to focus you and help you move forward.
Coaching usually lasts for around six to eight sessions of an hour each which can be done online or face to face.
Put simply, coaching helps us create our future whereas counselling helps us to resolve our past.
Both approaches tend to be non-directive.
The primary focus for coaching is working towards solutions and reaching your goals.

Coaching can help focus and define a set of goals to work towards.
This often helps clients to become more self-reliant, take greater responsibility for things, and gain more satisfaction from their lives or jobs.
It can help enable us to contribute more to the things we care about and function more effectively.

How do I get started?

Make a list of the things that you are looking to achieve or change and what you would like your coach to help with. Bring it with you to your first session. You might include:

  • Where you would like to be a years’ time
  • Targets you would like set or implement in your life
  • Goals you may have set but struggled with in the past

In your first session, you will probably do most of the talking.
You should tell your coach what you would like to get from coaching. After the first session, your coach will give you an idea on how many sessions will help you reach your goals, and over what period of time.
